Five SIS Seniors Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society

Five SIS Seniors; Mark Bachofer, Jessica Jasso, Makayla Quinn, Bethany Runsten and Keke Shen were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society; the most prestigious honor that can be awarded to an American undergraduate student. Congratulations to them and all of Pacific's Phi Beta Kappa inductees and members.

Dr. William Herrin, director of the School of International Studies discussed the economics of immigration during the second of a series of educational programs organized by the League of Women Voters of San Joaquin County.



The Spring 2017 Alumni Career Forum was held Thursday, March 30th and featured three alumni who have worked abroad and in the US and included: Mahrukh Hasan, '07, Knowledge, Monitoring & Evaluation Manager for Internews, a global media development organization; Mendy Slaton, '09, Market Development Strategist for GitHub, the world's leading software development platform; and William Castillo Guardado, '10, Program Associate for the Unaccompanied Children Program, Center on Immigration and Justice, Vera Institute of Justice. The 16th annual Women of Distinction Awards was held March 31, 2017 at Grace Covell Hall. At this event, Pacific honored six women from University of the Pacific and local communities for their leadership and dedication to gender equity. Two of the woman recognized are students in the School of International Studies. Shani Boyd, SIS Senior received the Undergraduate Woman of Distinction Award; and Khishigt "Kelly" Manlaibayar, SIS and Theater Arts Senior received the Sorority Woman of Distinction Award.  Pictures and more information about the event can be found here.
