Bachelor of Science - Music Industry Studies (non audition)

The Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies at University of the Pacific is the first degree of its kind in the region that has been designed to prepare students for success in the new music industry. With guidance from a host of alumni and music industry executives that know what skills and capabilities they are seeking, the Conservatory of Music has developed a cutting edge program that merges practice with theory along with intensive, hands-on training and internships to give students the knowledge and resilience to succeed in the fast-paced environment that is the music industry.

 Students in the BS-MIS degree are involved in:  

  • Conceiving and executing music and media projects such as recordings, videos, websites, tour packages, etc. 
  • Developing skills in media production and online media promotion, especially with social media
  • Working for Pac Ave Records, the student-led music company
  • Developing and completing a Senior Project which may be an App, company, product or service
  • Completing an internship with music firms in various market sectors
  • Choosing classes outside the major, or pursuing a minor in various subjects such as Business, Computer Science, Communication, Film Studies, etc. 
  • One on one advising and career planning with program faculty and industry pros    

If you have a passion for being a part of the new music industry and believe you have the drive, determination and enthusiasm for actively learning how to identify, facilitate and promote a wide range of artistic endeavors, the Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies will help you to become well-prepared for success in tomorrow's music industry.
