Pacific Technology advises: It’s time to unplug before you unplug for the winter break

    Dec 19, 2017

Are you wondering what YOU can do to ensure the safety and security of our campuses during the winter break?

Pacific Technology encourages all staff to turn off their computers, printers and peripherals over the winter break. Turning off your devices can help keep them secure and extend their lifespans, and it helps Pacific save energy when technology is not in use.

Please follow these five tips before you head out the door on your last day:

    1. Shut down computers to minimize security threats, and turn off other equipment, monitors and lights to conserve energy.
    2. Decrease the risk of a fire hazard - turn off all illuminated décor items.
    3. Keep all of your valuable items safely locked up or take them with you.
    4. Use secure shredder bins to dispose of documents containing confidential information.
    5. Keep personal health information out of sight and secure it to prevent unauthorized access.

The Customer Support Center Helpdesk will close Friday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m., however the CSC has on-call support during the winter break for emergency technical issues.

If you have an IT emergency issue, call the CSC at 209.946.7400. You can leave a message or follow the instructions detailed in the recording to page a technician.

All of us at Pacific Technology look forward to working with you in the coming year!
